I had Chad with InMotion Mechanical out to our place in Truckee this afternoon to do some routine maintenance on our boiler and to diagnose an issue with our tankless water heater.  Chad was awesome.  He clearly cared about doing a good job and he took the time and stayed late, after what had already been a long day for him, to make sure everything was done right. In Motion is a great company. They answer their phone and respond to you immediately. The lady in the office is very nice and helpful. The technician was very knowledgeable and did a great job. Tyler came out for the maintenance on our hydronic floor heating system and was very thorough.  He was on time, explained everything in detail and came back out for a quick follow-up the next day to resolve a small issue that arose.  Great customer service and communication! Way too expensive. I may be old fashioned and not attuned to Truckee prices (or from The City where tradespeople are much less expensive), but $470 to replace a $35-40 thermostat is a bit steep, especially for a “local” company. If, as they claim, there is no extra charge for Reno techs coming to Truckee, then InMotion Mechanical is charging at a higher level for all its techs to cover the overall cost of attracting and using service people from Reno. And if, as they say, the company system for scheduling causes it to be booked 30-60 days out for service requests in a manner that it can’t accommodate routine service calls like a thermostat replacement without charging double the cost of parts and through-the-roof for an overtime “arrival” fee of $375, then something is wrong with its scheduling system.

Edit: Owner called back recently and clarified details about my system issues, and offered some advice. I adjusted the review. Two years in a row I requested that unique items in my hydronic system be fixed. Both years the technician left without fixing the primary issue and didn't clearly explain why. The tech forgot to reset a zone valve so my heat was left on full blast, and I had to go figure that out and reset it myself. I've also tried calling inmotion a few times to sort these issues with the office, left voicemail, and they don't return my phone call. Our old hydronic boiler failed over Thanksgiving.  Even though we had used a local plumber for service calls and repairs over the years, they didn't make an offer to replace the system -- they simply didn't call back.  I contacted InMotion Mechanical over the weekend by email and voicemail, and got a prompt call back and then a visit by Tyler mid-day Monday to assess the job.  We received a bid Monday night, and signed a contract on Tuesday.  They proposed a three-day installation a little over two weeks out, and completed the job exactly as proposed.  System design and installation includes a high efficiency boiler and is a technical upgrade from our previous heater.  Tyler explained exactly why he designed the system the way he did, listing the function of each component.  When completed, he walked me through how to operate it, and quickly solved a minor problem with the wiring to my Nest thermostats (changed to 3-wire operation from 2 -wire).  He couldn't do this without access to the house, which was unavailable as we were traveling.  The system works perfectly.  Their standard contract is excellent -- simple with standard protections for both contractor and homeowner, and we were able to complete it on-line using DocuSign.  The price seemed a little high, (although clearly not excessive), but we didn't have the time to get competitive bids under the circumstances.  In any event, we only got one other call back, and that from a contractor who has a reputation for high prices.  I couldn't be more pleased with the whole experience.
